POLITICO Highlights EVs for All America’s Research to Solve California’s Apartment Charging Gap

EVs for All America’s new research is featured in POLITICO’s California Climate newsletter, spotlighting one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption — the lack of home charging access for renters.
As POLITICO reports, California’s 6 million renters could hold the key to the state’s EV future. EVs for All America co-founder Mike Murphy told POLITICO that our affiliate, the American EV Jobs Alliance, is working with Governor Gavin Newsom and state lawmakers to expand Level 2 charging in apartment and condo buildings, tapping carbon market revenue to fund installations that are “landlord-friendly” and affordable for tenants.
“After Trump killed the federal EV action, we said, ‘California is one-third of all EV sales, so let’s get something done at the state level,’” Murphy said. “And our research found that multi-family charging is a huge problem.”
The story features findings from our new statewide survey by David Binder Research, showing that 80% of California renters lack access to EV charging at home — and most would pay a small monthly fee for it.
