In the July 17th Episode of the ‘Batteries Included’ podcast, co-host Tom Moloughney shouted out EVs for All America co-founder Mike Murphy for his work on the brand new California EV incentives.

Moloughney notes the incredible work done by Murphy, praising him for providing the basic “bones” of the incentives – delivered directly to California Governor Gavin Newsom. He gave his props to Murphy and the American EV Jobs Alliance, mentioning his support for the wrinkle in the bill requiring manufacturers to “have some skin in the game”

The California EV incentives, projected to go in effect in “three to five weeks” will provide prospective EV owners with the opportunity to receive up to $3,500 back in instant, out the door rebates. CA officials have announced the EV discounts will be funded by $135 million in state budget, matched dollar for dollar by the automaker – leaving a total budget of $270 million.

This rebate comes after promises from CA Governor Newsom to provide incentives if then President-elect Trump were to follow through with discarding the massively popular federal $7,500 rebate. It will be incredibly interesting to see Murphy’s work come to fruition as the incentives take hold during the busy summer sales season.
